Happy New Years Eve-Eve, friends! I just want to start by saying THANK YOU so much for the sweet messages I got yesterday after my post about my Big Guy. Everyone is so kind, and I really felt the love. As I said, it will be tough, but my memories of him will always bring a smile to my face.
With the turmoil of the past two weeks, I was so thankful to be able to get outside and distract myself with some good duck hunting with family. Two chilly mornings and a quick afternoon hunt, in fact. Two were pretty slow, one was quite the opposite, but the wind and sun on my face really made me feel better. Plus, Prine has really done well this season, and it was so cool to seem him make some great retrieves!
Nearly 30 ducks were bagged this morning – ring necks, blue bills, gadwall, ruddy ducks & teal… Not too shabby! I may or may not have accidentally decapitated a duck… Much to the amusement of the Mr.
Father & Sons
Brothers & Sisters with Allston’s double from our afternoon hunt. At least someone knocked down a bird!
A pair of teal from the last morning hunt
The weekend ended with me spending several hours (and 7+ miles) in the woods trying to jump a deer.
More on that, coming soon!
Great post Hollis….had lots of folks ask about your blog yesterday! Good stuff!! Best wishes for 2015….keep your powder dry and your waders wet!!!!
