Not a hunting or fishing or travel adventure, but something entirely different. Some of you may know (or have already seen), in fact. I am excited to announce that I have started a stationery company (and Etsy shop), centered on my love of the outdoors – Wilderness Paper Co.
weekend recap: too late?
Yes… I know… A few weeks ago, I thought that I might have been too early to find any sheds. I walked and searched miles and miles, from deep in the woods to wide open food plots, only to come up empty handed. I summed it up to the “fact” that bucks in the Lowcountry just hadn’t quite dropped their antlers. I was just early, right?
myyy myyy myyy…
Myyy myyy myyy, my key lime pie! Ever heard that song? So silly. But! A delicious key lime pie is the recipe I have for you today. Sort of random, I know. What prompted me to make one? It was ssssommeeone’s birthday yesterday…
weekend recap: too early?
Anyone else wondering where this chilly weather came from, and what happened to that glorious 70* weekend we had not too long ago? This girl, for sure. Needless to say, the cold weather didn’t stop me from trying my hand as some more shed hunting over the weekend. Despite the 200 mp winds (ok, ok… I’m exaggerating, but only a little) and close to freezing temperatures, I gathered my gear and some warm layers and headed out. I was on a mission, as I have little to show for my shed hunting success this year so far. No pun intended.
VIDEO DIARY: duck season 2014-2015
At long last! I finally finished the 2014-2015 duck season video. I have to say, it was a pretty good season. From the bull canvas back to fast and furious hunts, I love having this video to relive it all. And, having the photo above from earlier in the season posted by the Outdoor Channel was just the icing on the cake. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
it’s about that time…
For shed hunting! After last year’s success, you better believe I’m ready to get back out there and start the search again. I’ve got my essentials ready to go, and have mapped out my most promising areas based on this past deer season. I am hoping to come away with at least a few good finds this year.
the end of duck season: i called it.
I knew it. I called it last week. Duck season hasn’t been over 1 week, and I am already wondering what to do with my weekends… And Wednesday mornings. Duck hunting is so much more fun than working in an office. And don’t act like you don’t agree with me. I am already missing the layers of clothing stuffed into my waders, the mega-pack of hand warmers that is no longer, and the exciting feeling of refilling my shell belt at 5:30 am before a hunt.
weekend recap: winding down
Can you believe duck season is almost over? Like, this. weekend. I always have this tug of emotion in the last week or two – I am, on one hand, pretty tired from traveling every weekend plus every Tuesday/Wednesday and look forward to actually sleeping in on a Saturday rather than hitting snooze at 5 am. I know, I know… There are worse problems to have! On the other hand, I know that this time next week, I will be bored, wondering when I will get to hunt again and wondering why I ever even remotely wanted duck season to come to a close even a little bit.
weekend recap: #tbt to the last of deer season
I know… It seems like I let deer season go out with a fizzle, and not with a bang. I did do a fair amount of hunting after the big doe I shot, and had my sights set on ending the season with a really nice buck. My efforts proved to be futile, though, as I saw only does on the remainder of my hunts. Plus, nothing too exciting happened on them, so taking photos/recapping each hunt wasn’t a big priority. You’d have been quite bored, I am sure.
weekend recap: trophies
Ugh. The weather. Is anyone else over this rain? I know I am! If it’s going to rain in January, I think it should just go ahead and snow. Anyone with me on that? Thankfully, we had good weather over the weekend to do a little duck hunting in Georgetown. We didn’t anticipate a crazy, barrel burner of a hunt, but knew there were some ducks on the pond and knew it would be worth a try. At the very least, it was shaping up to be a beautiful day.
