I know, I KNOW! It has been aaaages since I posted a recipe here at bright side outdoors. Way too long! Trust me, I’ve been cooking with all the game I can get my hands on, and I have a recipe for you at last.

summer sausage breakfast biscuits
… Actually, they’re mini black pepper & sea salt summer sausage breakfast biscuits with a whole grain dijon mustard. Seemed a bit extreme for the post title, right? Well, no matter what we name them, we can always call them delicious. Make these. This weekend.
cinnamon sugar donut mini muffins with lavender
I know that’s a mouthful. Bear with me.
I’m sorry. I’m sorry for what I am about to introduce to you. They’re cinnamon sugar donuts. And also mini muffins. Just trust me. When you’ve eaten 37 of these and you. can’t. stop… Please remember that I warned you. THESE ARE AMAZING. And you can feel less guilty eating several of these than the cupcakes muffins from last week. I made them two days in a row. One batch went to the Rascal, naturally. John and I didn’t crush 2 pans of these by ourselves… Even though (sugar high aside) we could have without batting an eye.
lemon muffins with blueberry cream cheese icing
You can eat a cupcake for breakfast, but call it a muffin to make it healthier. Right? I KNOW. These things are super easy to whip up, and the homemade blueberry icing is well worth the extra effort. [You just may want to have a spare napkin or 10 close by.]
honey thyme muffins
homemade banana bread
Happy Tuesday, friends! I hope everyone else is enjoying this ah-mazing weather we are currently experiencing here in the lowcountry. And you know what makes these beautiful mornings even better? A delicious breakfast that is sure to please. Make this homemade banana bread any time of year, and snag a slice to snack on while you’re on the way to the duck blind, sitting in the deer stand, or wherever your outdoor adventures may take you. But, if you’re going fishing – don’t bring any with you on the boat!
breakfast bombs
egg in a mug breakfast sandwich
I know that sounds weird… But trust me, it is so surprisingly easy and good, you’ll want to give it a try. Like, tomorrow. Or today, if you are just waking up. This is one of those quick breakfasts you can make and assemble in less than 5 minutes, wrap it in some tin foil to keep it warm, and walk out of the door to your hunting/fishing destination. I made this sort of on a whim with what I happened to have on hand, so it is pretty simple. So simple I was almost embarassedYou can also vary the ingredients to suit your taste buds, so be creative! *{See below for some variation inspiration}
grab and go breakfasts
Happy Tuesday all! Ever wake up to hunt or fish at, say, 4 am, and think “How can one function, much less think about eating this early in the morning?!” So then you throw on your camouflage or bathing suit, pour a quick cup of coffee, and walk out the door. And what do you know? Thirty minutes later, you are starving, but you’re already waist-deep in the pond or have just pulled away from the dock. Talk about s-o-l, right? Wrong!
